Culture
The motor of the cultural activity that, during centuries, was
assumed by the lords of Hermalle-sous-Huy, moved gradually, during
the 20th century, toward the local associations as " Harimala
779 " and toward the public powers, but Fanfare of the
Mutual St.-Lambert, dramatic society "La Renommée",
theatrical company "l'Harmonie", Cycling Club disappeared
in the second half of the 20th century.
A Culturel
Centre is founded in
Hermalle-sous-Huy in 1972, in the old scholls; it will become
the one of the entity when the villages were merging 1977, January
1srt; a new building is inaugured on 1980, March 29, which will
know an important renovation in 2001 (hall of 150 places) - www.ccengis.be.
The cultural Centre centers
its action toward the economic as cultural underprivileged poeple
: the formation for jobless people, work with the associations,
the animation of district, the involvement citizen with the children
are its main sectors of activities.
It distributes shows and organizes regularly some workshops (circus
for children, movement for children, song for adults) and
courses. Inform yourselves !
It publishes 5 000 copies of a free bimonthly magazine proposing
the program of its activities.

The Centre
of expression and creativeness, just nearby, propose some shops for
adults (gardening, puppets in wood, etc.) and children
(drawing, painting, sculpture).

The school
fundamental of Hermalle-sous-Huy, opposite the cultural Center and
the local Library, trains free (local teaching) the children
from 2,5 to 12 years (maternal and primary classes, training
of Dutch or English from the 5th primary, obligatory course of
swimming).
