Local Library :

The local Library proposes a pleasant choice for children and adults: novels, comic strips, technical or for the general public works...

For a contribution of 4 euros/year (of which are exempted the miners of age, students, unemployed person), a maximum of 10 books is lent at a time for a 1 month.

You can consult there the press of the day and to do some research on internet with the help of a charming librarian, Nathalie Simon.

N.B. If you don't find the book that you absolutely want to read, try the Second-hand bookmarket of the non-profit making association "Au coeur du Livre" - on Saturday 2-7 pm and Sunday 11 am-7 pm in the Ferme castrale, chaussée F. Terwagne 132a - ( +32-(0)85-31 42 86 et GSM 0495 87 72 12.

Gourmet Library

The most important library of gastronomy in Belgium, with more than 12.000 cookbooks and several thousand documents, one of the biggest of Europe.
The library also contains works concerning the ancient arts and the dance. A fourth collection is dedicated to the local archives and to the dialectal literature.

1. Bibliotheca gastronomica :
12.000 works concerning the food, the arts of the table and the tobacco, mainly in Europe and particularly in Belgium: bibliographies, history, receipts of all the times, home economics, food chemistry, advertisements, iconography, literature, music, etc.

2. Library of art history and archaeology :
2.500 works concerning the architecture, the painting, the furniture, the decoration, the ironworks, the silversmith's work, the glass-making, the ceramic, etc.

3. Library of dance and choreography :
2.000 works on the dance concerning notably the bibliography, the biographies, the history of the dance - of the ballet, the notebooks, the dictionaries, the anatomy, the movement, the technical manual workers (ballet, modern dance, jazz, Spanish, traditional dance, social danse), high schools, companies of ballet, literature, iconography, etc.

4. Collection Georges Plumier : 
Local archives and dialectal literature (Hermalle-sous-Huy).

The reading room is opened to the public only on meeting - excepted on Saturdays, on Sundays, on Mondays and holidays. An expense participation is asked. The works are accessible in consultation, on the spot.
