Museum Postes restantes :

In 2004 February, 20, the Tourist information office La Rawète opened, in the Ferme castrale, a new museum to present you possessions to write and post objects that already belong to folklore and archeology, or that the modernization of the public service makes completely forgotten :
Pens and penholders, calligraphies, litteras, post boxes and post signs, sticks, bags, trumpets, clapper boards, letter scales, Belgian and foreign uniforms, etc.
Do you remember the "barbarian" music of the pad on the letters ?
The Museum is open every Saturday (guided visit at 2.30, 4, 6 pm), every Sunday (guided visit at 11.30 am, 2, 4, 6 pm) except 2005, April 16 and 17, July 23 and 24. Weekdays: on request, for groups.

In memoriam

Armand Henrot is born on August 1, 1926 in Ampsin,
village of the Valley of the Meuse, close to Amay.

At the age of 7, he starts to collect the poststamps; this hobby quickly becomes a passion which leads him to gather the totality of the Belgian stamps, to also collect French, Luxemburgish stamps... and to be interested in the course of the mail emitted in the area of Amay by the study of the postmarks.

The chance brings him face to caps of postmen; he then decides to collect various models of them, of various countries, while writing to his correspondents as to the embassies. He will receive not only hats but also uniforms ! Other objects will be added to them: cases, canes, clappers, letter-boxes, signs, etc.

The volume of this new collection, the desire of an ageing man to show it to the public, make that he chooses in 2003 to make gilft of it to the Gourmet Museum of the Tourist information office of Hermalle-sous-Huy, of which the curator, Charles-Xavier Ménage, helped in his research.

A new small Museum "Postes restantes" is born then, devoted to the objects of the post office and, by extension, to this of the script. Armand Henrot weekly supervises the evolution of this museum until his health obliges him to space his visits.

August 4, 2005, he gets to sleep forever, leaving to those which knew him the memory of a "small" man, voluntary, with a passion, generous and how much attaching.
